Pacific Wayfinder Sailing Academy was founded to continue the long tradition of excellent boating education and training in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is run by experienced boat owners with a long history of working as part of a established school and charter organization. We are doing this in the spirit of providing deep maritime knowledge and skills, so that you can sail anywhere confidently and safely.
Pacific Wayfinder is a US Sailing accredited Keelboat school and will offer the full range of US Sailing certification.
Learn to Sail on the Bay
Our sailing lessons provide hands-on instruction for sailors looking to build confidence and develop practical skills on the water. Whether you’re completely new to sailing or looking to strengthen your seamanship, our instructors guide you through real-world sailing techniques in a supportive, on-the-water environment.
Instruction focuses on practical skills commonly associated with widely recognized sailing development pathways.
Lessons are tailored to the experience level and goals of each sailor—from beginners learning the fundamentals to experienced sailors refining advanced techniques or simply getting out on the water to hone their skills.
Our instruction emphasizes the practical aspects of safe and confident sailing, including:
- Safety on and off the water
- Situational awareness and seamanship
- Developing a sail plan
- Boat handling under sail and power
- Docking, anchoring, and maneuvering
- Crew coordination and communication
Instruction is provided by experienced US Sailing certified instructors, who can help you develop the skills and confidence needed to progress as a sailor.
